Business is kind of like one long game of monopoly. If your family is anything like ours, it typically ends up with the board scattered and forgotten, while someone argues on the probability that another player cheated. It ends with us making up over a few laughs, and moving on.
As you grow a business, staffing can be a challenge. You can try to staff to 60% of production or incoming projects, but then that affects cash flow. If you work your team to higher productivity, morale suffers. Add clients into the equation, and your job as a sales person or as an owner/officer is to make sure that your incoming projects are staffed appropriately. No matter what you do, you could technically do it better, and in this way business is a never ending journey to becoming more experienced and able to handle the ebbs and flows as you grow.
We are currently in the middle of a multi year journey to find or build the perfect operating system for ourselves and are in the middle of a long project to customize Method CRM for our needs. This requires (just like every project) stakeholder education, configuration, planning, and finally a reasonable Go Live, tentatively set for Jan 1 (I inwardly have hopes of a 4Q move, but for right now I don’t want to stress my team or myself right around the holidays!). By documenting our existing processes, identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement, and testing thoroughly, I am confident that when we finally switch it will be stress free and an opportunity to simplify our business, while improving productivity and profitability.
If you want to discuss how CRM can help your business, or discuss a pain point we can possibly solve, let us know! PS – I’m in awe of my daughter’s artwork from class this week, so you get a treat at the end!
